    Guest Artist Virginie Ropars shares with us her journey into doll making! A little background on Virginie before we start her interview: Born in Brittany (France) in 1976. Virginie Ropars figures are in between sculpture, illustration and character design. Rhissanna Tell us a little about yourself and how you started creating art dolls. I make paper clay and cloth dolls, with soft bodies and sculpted head and limbs. My dolls are about 19 inches/48cm tall with simple joints at the hip, shoulder and elbow. They have painted eyes, bent knees for sitting and lambswool or alpaca hair. I create vintage inspired, articulated, all-cloth, dolls, using Kona quilting cotton for the entire doll. I’ve developed a uniquely sculpted face and body pattern that follows the natural curves of the face and body. I began making cloth dolls with the intent to see how far I could take the art.     Kerry Howard Schmidt of Paper Moon Gallery creates whimsical needle felted characters, she has been creating some form of art for nearly 40 years.
